About Pass.pk & Research Methodology
Democratizing academic performance intelligence, school quality metrics, and curriculum diagnostics across Pakistan.
Our Core Mission
For decades, examination results in Pakistan have been locked inside massive, unsearchable PDF official results often exceeding thousands of pages. While board websites allow individual students to check single roll numbers, parents, teachers, and school administrators have lacked transparent, macro-level visibility into school performance, district disparities, and subject-level failure dynamics.
Pass.pk was founded to bridge this data asymmetry. We transform publicly available examination records into clean, interactive scorecards, school ranking leaderboards, and diagnostic insights that empower families to make informed school choices and assist educators in targeted curriculum interventions.
How We Process Official Official Results: The Analytics Pipeline
Our research pipeline adheres to rigorous computational procedures to ensure data fidelity:
- Official Public Acquisition: Result files and result CDs are sourced strictly from official public releases authorized by the respective examination controllers following press conferences.
- Text Extraction & Structural Parsing: Specialized optical character recognition (OCR) and layout parsing engines dissect dense result structures, extracting candidate roll numbers, institution codes, subject failure codes, and obtained marks.
- School Normalization & District Mapping: School names with varying spellings, abbreviations, or campus identifiers are clustered and mapped to canonical institution records across Tehsils and Cantonments.
- Statistical Aggregation & Quality Scoring: Schools are evaluated across multiple objective indicators: total candidates registered, pass rate percentages, A-1 and A grade yields, and average GPA distributions.
- Year-over-Year Longitudinal Modeling: We match institutions across consecutive academic years (e.g., 2025 vs 2026) to determine improvement trajectories, dropout trends, and difficulty fluctuations.
School Ranking Criteria & Filter Thresholds
To eliminate statistical anomalies where small coaching centers with only 1 or 2 examinees show artificial 100% pass rates, our ranking algorithms apply strict cohort thresholds:
- Top 100 Leaderboards: Require a minimum cohort of examinees to ensure statistical validity.
- Government vs Private Disaggregation: Evaluates public high schools and private institutions under separate benchmarks to highlight grassroots public school excellence.
- Subject Failure Severity Index: Computes the specific subject-level vulnerability (e.g., Mathematics vs General Science) to assist remedial coaching.
Independent Academic Stance
Pass.pk maintains complete independence from government bodies and commercial publishers. All analyses are provided as a public educational utility. We welcome collaborative inquiries from universities, policy institutes, and education journalists.
